It's been quite some time since I've actually taken the time out to write about music. I guess I've been so consumed in my own space and trying to carve out my personal niche within the business that everyone else has taken a considerable backseat, and for that my fanhood has waned for the most part. Within the past week, I've been deciphering how to blend all of my interests and ideas into a cohesive medium and I came to the conclusion that I should start sharing the things that I'm passionate about and archiving them for whomever may be interested in some of the same. You're now witnessing the product of that.
Jae Franklin is an incredibly talented vocalist from Houston, Texas that attended Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA and is currently located in Abu Dhabi of the United Arab Emirates. We've worked together in the past (on music you'll hear in the future) and I can definitely say that I'm excited to see what she does next. As of now, she is preparing a brand new album titled "CHEERS TO LIFE" and pushing her latest single, "Weary" produced by Kwame Busia. The song comes at a really trying time in not only American, but World history as we continue to unearth stories of inequality, injustice, and the mental unrest that resides within our brothers and sisters internationally. "Weary" is a strong testament of those emotions and simply states that as a whole, people are tired!
I commend Jae on her ambition to not only voice our struggles as a people, but to also bring it home in the form of a ballad. Many current vocalists are in a crossroads about what direction to take their music in and very few can carry this type of song to keep the attention of the masses that move at such a rapid pace nowadays. The vibe definitely carries a tone that we've grown familiar with from Sam Smith in recent memory, which is a great thing for people that yearn for honest music that cuts through the facade that we're all okay.
I'll definitely be updating once more details of the "CHEERS TO LIFE" album are released. Until then, stay tune for more of Jae Franklin's music at http://soundcloud.com/jaefranklin or follow her on twitter at http://twitter.com/jaefranklin.
